MEDITERRANEA

THE INDEPENDENT STANDARD

Mediterranea operates differently from traditional studios by design. We have established an Independent Standard that bypasses the traditional gatekeepers. By not seeking outside investment, we protect the authenticity of our work. We do not answer to studio heads or financiers. This total independence guarantees that no outside voices can alter our vision or compromise our integrity.

A SUSTAINABLE VISION

Our initial funding goal is €50,000. This secures the foundation: wardrobe, casting, locations, and music, allowing pre-production to begin.

Our total budget goal is €200,000.

If €150,000 is spent in Austria, the production qualifies for the FISA+ rebate, which returns approximately €50,000. The remaining €50,000 covers international expenses, including our UK composer, international cast, and the sourcing of authentic period assets and handcrafted items.

The Asset Cycle. This budget is an investment in permanent physical assets. A portion of the €150,000 Austrian spend will fund museum-quality wardrobes for the first short film, followed by additional wardrobe and practical creature effects for the second.

By building these pieces upfront and reinvesting the €50,000 rebate into filming the next short, we create a self-sustaining cycle. Every asset built for the short films carries directly into the feature film. The world grows practically, film by film.

A €200,000 budget is significant for two short films, but these are not standard shorts. Together, they form an hour of cinema shot on ARRI cameras and optics in extraordinary natural and historical environments. By relying on tactile authenticity, real locations, specialized makeup, original music, and practical artistry, we aim to prove that we can deliver far better fantasy cinema than Hollywood can, at a fraction of the cost.

THE ONE-BY-ONE PROMISE

To reach our funding goal for this first stage of production, I will personally hand-screen every supporter shirt in this series as the project moves forward.

By bypassing third-party factories and doing the work myself, I can offer a premium garment at a fair price while ensuring the maximum possible portion of your contribution reaches the screen.

This is a commitment built with the same discipline that will define Mediterranea.

I am not just asking for your support;

I am willing to earn it.

Tommy Heilemann, Founder, Mediterranea
